On the afternoon of October 30, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Quynh Thien, together with the leadership of various provincial departments and sectors, engaged in a reception and working session with a South Korean delegation from the Korea Institute of Construction Engineering and Technology (KICT), as well as representatives from South Korean businesses. The purpose of this rendezvous was to explore the prospects of collaborating on the development of digital technology solutions within Tra Vinh.

The Korea Institute of Construction Engineering and Technology (KICT) is a government-funded agency of South Korea with a mission to research and formulate policies in various domains including road traffic, environmental resource management, natural disaster prevention, and climate change adaptation. The delegation included top officials from Dtonic Joint Stock Company, Soda System Company, and Yung Chang Company, all of which are South Korean digital technology enterprises. These firms specialize in delivering innovative solutions, particularly in the realms of Big Data and smart city development, with a particular emphasis on technology solutions designed to address natural disasters and climate change.

Through this meeting, the Korean delegation expressed their strong desire to promote the exchange of technological knowledge and research collaboration in the fields of smart urban development, transportation, and environmental initiatives in Tra Vinh.

The South Korean delegation engaged in discussions with the leadership of various provincial departments and sectors during the session. Topics included smart surveillance camera solutions, intelligent traffic systems, and environmental monitoring systems. Simultaneously, there was an opportunity to gain insight into the smart urban model currently being implemented in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam.

Representatives of the Korean delegation extended an invitation to the leadership of the Provincial People's Committee, as well as the various departments and sectors, for a practical visit to observe the technological solutions and smart urban models currently being deployed in South Korea. Moreover, they expressed their hope for both sides to move forward in signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to boost cooperative relationships in the realm of digital technology.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Quynh Thien, conveyed that the provincial planning for Tra Vinh spanning from 2021 to 2030, with a vision reaching to 2050, has recently received the stamp of approval from the Prime Minister. This strategic framework identifies one of the key development milestones as the implementation of digital transformation, underpinned by three core pillars: the digital economy, digital society, and digital governance. Consequently, the province is highly eager to engage in learning and collaborating with South Korea, particularly in the areas of constructing and advancing smart urban areas, bolstering environmental monitoring systems, and fostering collaboration in the training of project management personnel.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Quynh Thien wholeheartedly endorsed the delegation's proposal to establish an MOU and urged the South Korean delegation to swiftly formulate a concrete plan for future collaboration.
