Provincial Leadership Collaborates with Japanese Investors on coconut wax product development project
On the morning of November 15, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Quynh Thien, held a meeting with representatives from HT Capital Co., Ltd. to explore and discuss a research initiative focused on developing products from waxed coconuts and expanding cultivation areas in Tra Vinh.

Mr. Hironori Tsuchiya shares about HT Capital's project.

HT Capital, a Japanese enterprise specializing in investment and financial consulting, has previously established An Phu Lacue, a joint venture in Da Lat, Vietnam. This venture is dedicated to in-depth research on Vietnamese agricultural production leveraging Japanese technology.

During the meeting with Tra Vinh province, Mr. Hironori Tsuchiya, Director of HT Capital Company, presented insights into the project aiming to develop products from coconut wax, including the innovative idea of producing fuel and biofuel derived from coconut wax. Seeking the province's input on the project, he expressed a keen interest in understanding Tra Vinh's coconut cultivation experiences and areas suitable for wax coconut production. This engagement served as a foundation for proposing an extensive research project covering propagation methods, expansion of wax coconut cultivation areas, and the development of economically valuable products.

In response to Mr. Hironori Tsuchiya's presentation, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Le Van Dong, highlighted Tra Vinh's standing as the province with the second-largest coconut cultivation area in the Mekong Delta—approximately 27,380 hectares, yielding around 444 million fruits annually, including 752.5 hectares of wax coconut.

The province has strategically outlined plans to elevate the coconut value chain, concentrating efforts on the development of specialty wax coconuts in districts such as Cau Ke, Chau Thanh, Cang Long, and Tieu Can. This development is closely linked with tourism initiatives and the processing of high-value products derived from coconut wax.

Additionally, leaders from provincial departments and branches provided valuable recommendations, suggesting that HT Capital diversify its research scope to include more common coconut varieties to potentially reduce raw material costs. Furthermore, they encouraged research into broader applications of coconuts, spanning the realms of food, cosmetics, and beyond the energy sector.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Quynh Thien speaks at the working session.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Quynh Thien, emphasized that the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee view coconut cultivation as a pivotal agricultural activity. Consequently, the proposals from the investors strongly align with the province's development trajectory. He expressed full agreement with the investor's suggestions and urged Mr. Hironori Tsuchiya to consider exploring more common coconut varieties for fuel production, echoing the sentiments put forth by representatives from provincial departments. Vice Chairman Nguyen Quynh Thien committed Tra Vinh's unwavering support to facilitate legal procedures and create optimal conditions for seamless collaboration between investors and local communities in raw material regions.
