On the afternoon of April 12, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Thanh Binh, presided over a meeting with leaders from various departments, branches, and the Cau Ke District People's Committee to discuss plans for the 100-Year Wax Coconut Tree Festival and the 2024 Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke district.

The event will be organized on a provincial scale, with activities taking place in Cau Ke district from August 25 to August 31, 2024.

As part of the 100-Year Wax Coconut Tree Festival, the Organizing Committee will stage and highlight the role and image of farmers associated with the wax coconut tree during the opening ceremony. Additionally, a series of activities will be organized, including a workshop on wax coconut trees, a display of delicious fruits, a contest to create 100 delicious dishes from wax coconut (expected to set a Vietnamese record), and a discussion on Cau Ke tourism – the potential along the Hau River.

Moreover, according to the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week program, this year's opening ceremony will feature the announcement by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to include the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival of Cau Ke district in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

The main activities during Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week will also include a trade fair, culinary space, lion and dragon dances, exhibitions showcasing images of Vu Lan Thang Hoi in Cau Ke district, sports activities, traditional games, and religious activities to worship Ong Bon.

During the meeting, provincial departments and branches provided numerous insights on the festival's logo, inter-departmental and local coordination, ensuring security and order, food safety and hygiene, and environmental cleanliness.

In his speech at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Thanh Binh, urged the People's Committee of Cau Ke district and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to assimilate these suggestions and expedite the completion of the plan to pave the way for the subsequent steps.

Simultaneously, the departments, branches, and subcommittees, being members of the organizing committee, are required to prepare and formulate specific, detailed plans for each activity under their purview. This thorough preparation aims to ensure the successful and safe execution of the 100-Year Wax Coconut Tree Festival and the 2024 Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke district, achieving the most effective cultural and tourism promotion.
