Tourism Industry meeting at the beginning of 2024

In the warm and festive ambiance of the new year's initial days, on February 16, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism organized a gathering for tourism businesses at the onset of 2024.

Among the attendees were Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Mr. Thach Boi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with representatives from 29 tourism enterprises across the province.

During the opening remarks, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, highlighted the positive transformations in Tra Vinh province's tourism sector in recent years, contributing significantly to the local socio-economic development.

Specifically, the tourism sector garnered over 1,706 billion VND in revenue last year. The total number of visitors exceeded 2 million, surpassing the annual target by 133%. Overnight guests surpassed 580 thousand, including over 46 thousand international visitors.

For the 2024 Lunar New Year, Tra Vinh welcomed over 82 thousand visitors, including 510 international guests, with over 6 thousand overnight stays, generating a total revenue of 57.4 billion VND.

The province boasts 4 prominent tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta (including historical relics like Uncle Ho Temple, community tourist spots like Con Chim, eco-tourism sites like Huynh Kha, and cultural and tourist areas like Ao Ba Om), along with 4 provincial-level tourist attractions (such as historical relic sites, cultural and tourist zones, community tourist sites, and memorial areas).

Regarding accommodation, the province currently hosts 129 tourist accommodation establishments, 1 commercial center, 33 culinary outlets offering local specialties and souvenirs, along with entertainment facilities, 1 international travel company, and 9 domestic travel agencies.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, commended and praised the efforts of the province's tourism enterprises. He encouraged them to further their contributions to the province's tourism development in the forthcoming period.

Representatives from Con Chim Community Tourism Site shared their insights during the meeting.

Throughout the session, tourism units and businesses engaged in fruitful exchanges, sharing advantages, addressing operational challenges, and proposing solutions. These discussions aimed to bolster ties between government tourism management agencies and local tourism businesses.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Thanh Binh, acknowledged and applauded the recent efforts of the tourism sector. He emphasized the province's commitment to facilitating favorable conditions for businesses, including those in the tourism sector, to thrive.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Thanh Binh, articulated the need for tighter cohesion within the tourism business community to diversify tourism offerings, supplement existing products, and enhance overall tourism branding in the province.

Looking ahead, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee urged the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to continue leveraging its role in managing, leading, and advising the Provincial People's Committee on tourism development mechanisms.
