According to the report from the Department of Planning and Investment, following the Lunar New Year holiday, production and business establishments, enterprises, agencies, and units swiftly resumed operations. The socio-economic situation in the month saw a fundamental stability and growth compared to the previous month and the same period last year.

In February, budget revenue increased, estimated to be over 1,700 billion VND, with accumulated revenue in two months exceeding 2,500 billion VND, reaching 18.9% of the estimated target, which is 43.8% higher than the same period last year. Budget expenditure surpassed 1,200 billion VND, with accumulated spending in two months exceeding 1,500 billion VND, nearly 70% higher than the same period last year.

As of now, the entire province has cultivated over 62,600 hectares, with more than 1,000 hectares of Winter-Spring rice harvested, estimated at 4,664 tons with an average yield of 4.63 tons per hectare. Aquaculture has covered 13,167 hectares, witnessing a 21.38% decrease in farming area. The progress of aquaculture stocking has been sluggish due to unstable farming conditions at the beginning of the season, coupled with high prices of feed and input materials alongside decreasing prices of raw shrimp.

Throughout the month, high tides caused numerous landslides in dikes and embankments, resulting in damage to crops and residential structures. Livestock management in some areas has been lax, posing challenges to disease prevention efforts.

Post-Tet, over 98% of the workforce returned to work. Industrial production has seen significant growth. In the first two months of the year, the industrial production index surged by 63.18%. The estimated industrial production value stands at over 5,900 billion VND, a 33.26% increase compared to the same period last year. Several key industrial products have seen substantial growth, such as electricity production by 135.3% and finished shoes by 98.3%.

The post-Tet market remains stable. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in February are estimated to reach nearly 5,300 billion VND, with accumulated figures for the first two months surpassing 10,400 billion VND, a 16.89% increase compared to the same period last year. However, revenue, tourist arrivals, and average room occupancy rates have declined due to the temporary closure of some tourist attractions in the province.

In 2024, the total planned public investment capital exceeds 4,766 billion VND. By February 16, 2024, the province had disbursed over 700 billion VND, achieving 14.7% of the plan.

Efforts in sending workers abroad for temporary work have yielded positive outcomes. Health care for the people has been a focus, with effective control of prevalent diseases. Peak crime control operations have been maintained to ensure security and order during the 2024 Lunar New Year.

In his directive speech, Chairman Le Van Han proposed that leaders of departments, branches, and localities research and innovate leadership and management methods, focusing on the vigorous and effective implementation of tasks and solutions according to the Socio-Economic Development Plan from the beginning of the year.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to accelerate the construction progress of in-field irrigation projects, proactively store fresh water, implement comprehensive solutions to prevent and combat drought and saltwater intrusion, and minimize production risks. Additionally, attention must be paid to pest and disease prevention and the enhancement of crop variety quality. It is also imperative to swiftly complete the documentation for the reception of smart cold storage facilities for better exploitation solutions to serve the people.
