Cooperative Alliance: Enhancing the role as a bridge and facilitator for the growing cllective economy and cooperative development
On the morning of July 19, the Provincial Cooperative Alliance of Tra Vinh province organized a conference to review the progress of the collective economic development (KTTT) and cooperatives in the first half of 2023, as well as a mid-term review for the period 2020 - 2025. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Quynh Thien, attended and directed the conference.

According to the report presented by the Provincial Cooperative Alliance, there have been significant developments in KTTT and cooperatives. In the first half of the 2020-2025 term, 51 new cooperatives were established, and during the first 6 months of 2023, an additional 8 cooperatives were formed. Currently, the province is home to 165 cooperatives operating in various sectors, including agriculture (120 cooperatives), non-agricultural fields (29 cooperatives), 16 people's credit funds, and 1 Union of cooperatives, with more than 28,500 members actively participating.

During the conference, representatives from cooperatives shared their achievements in economic development and raised various challenges. They also made proposals related to resource support for production development, sought guidance, and requested better access to favorable and timely policies. Additionally, they emphasized the need for land allocation to support the expansion of production within cooperatives.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Quynh Thien, in his speech at the conference, highlighted the vital contributions of KTTT, cooperatives, and the Provincial Cooperative Alliance to the socio-economic development of the province. He recognized and praised the achievements in the economic cooperation sector and the active role played by cooperatives.

To enhance the efficiency of KTTT and cooperatives in the future, Vice Chairman Nguyen Quynh Thien urged the Provincial Cooperative Alliance, along with relevant departments, branches, localities, and units, to closely follow and promote the Law on Cooperatives and support policies effectively. Furthermore, he encouraged the replication of successful cooperative models to benefit people throughout the province. The active involvement of members, union members, and the public in cooperative models was also stressed.

The Vice Chairman also emphasized the importance of organizing training and development programs in coordination with educational institutions, projects, and local authorities. These initiatives will help improve the capacity of cooperative managers and members, ensuring their qualifications to lead the development of cooperatives in the region.

Furthermore, he underscored the significant role of the Cooperative Alliance in advising and supporting the development of cooperatives, including efforts in digital transformation, branding, product traceability, and the development of products meeting OCOP standards. The Cooperative Alliance will also facilitate cooperatives' participation in fairs and trade promotions, both locally and internationally, helping cooperatives connect with various units and businesses, thus promoting economic and cooperative development.

During the conference, six additional members of the Executive Committee of the Union of Cooperatives, term VI, for the period 2020-2025, were elected. Moreover, the Provincial Cooperative Alliance admitted 18 new cooperatives and 2 enterprises as official members of the alliance.
