Opening Ceremony of the cultural, tourism week, and southern cuisine festival linked with Tra Vinhs Ok Om Bok Festival 2023
On the evening of November 21, the provincial People's Committee inaugurated the Cultural and Tourism Week along with the Southern Cuisine Festival, seamlessly tied to Tra Vinh's Ok Om Bok Festival for the year 2023 (running from November 21 to 27).

Present at the event were notable figures such as Mr. Le Van Han, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Lam Minh Dang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Triet, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Cultural Week Organizing Committee, along with other members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders from neighboring provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, former provincial leaders, representatives from local departments, branches, and a diverse assembly of the public.

This year's Cultural Week, running from November 21 to 27, boasts a lineup of vibrant activities, including a Trade Promotion Fair featuring rural industrial products and OCOP (One Commune, One Product) items, a space dedicated to traditional folk cakes and Southern cuisine, demonstrations of traditional baking techniques, a competition showcasing Khmer traditional costumes, and various exhibitions, fitness and sports activities. The pinnacle is the Ok Om Bok Festival Night, held at the nationally recognized architectural and scenic site, the Ang Pagoda and Ba Om Pond.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Thanh Binh, who also heads the Organizing Committee of the Cultural and Tourism Week, emphasized that the event aims to infuse joy and enthusiasm into the local populace. It provides a beneficial platform for people to engage, experience, and contribute to increasing labor productivity, thereby achieving the socio-economic development targets for 2023.

Simultaneously, the event seeks to uphold and promote the cultural heritage of minority ethnic groups in general and the Khmer community in the province specifically. This contributes to the preservation and development of an advanced Vietnamese culture, one that is rich, progressive, and deeply rooted in national identity.

With a sense of responsibility, the Organizing Committee pledges close coordination with relevant agencies, organizations, and localities to ensure that the Cultural Week unfolds in a joyful, united, safe, effective, and economical manner, adhering closely to the outlined plan.

The festival segment of the opening ceremony treated the audience to a variety of exceptional cultural performances under the themes: "Tra Vinh in the New Day," "Tra Vinh: Land of Love and People," and "Tra Vinh - the Land of Natural Favor."
