Khanh Phuoc Communal House in Phuoc Hao Commune Classified as a Provincial Relic

The Provincial People's Committee has recently issued Decision No. 995/QD-UBND dated June 10, 2024, designating the Khanh Phuoc Communal House as a provincial-level architectural and artistic relic.

Located in Dai Thon hamlet, Phuoc Hao commune, Chau Thanh district, Tra Vinh province, Khanh Phuoc Communal House sits approximately 300 meters northeast of Phuoc Hao market and nearly 11 kilometers northwest of Tra Vinh city.

The communal house, originally named Da Phuoc Communal House, was inaugurated in 1897 and renamed Khanh Phuoc Communal House in 1930.

This architectural structure is renowned for its historical and cultural significance, featuring materials and carvings that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Southern Vietnam.

Covering an area of 361.2 square meters, the communal house includes key sections: the main hall, the annex, and the primary shrine. The overall architecture of Khanh Phuoc Communal House follows the "Co Lau - Coming to Doi" style. The communal house serves as a place of worship for the god Thanh Hoang Bon Canh, a symbol of the village, and also honors Tien Hien, Hau Hien, Tien Su, Tien Vang, Hau Vang, Uncle Ho, and heroic martyrs.

Moreover, the communal house hosts the annual Ky Yen festival in April and December of the lunar calendar, where locals pray for peace, good health, prosperity, and bountiful harvests.

Khanh Phuoc Communal House is not only a repository of unique and artistically valuable carvings but also a symbol of spiritual culture. It plays a vital role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values for visitors to explore, study, and appreciate.

In recognizing Khanh Phuoc Communal House as a provincial relic, the Provincial People's Committee has tasked the Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, heads of relevant provincial departments, and the Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee with preserving, restoring, and promoting the value of the monument in accordance with current regulations.
